Madan Lal

Madan, the well known artist of international fame painted numerous female figures as beloved, damsel, wife, Goddesses etc. It not easy to paint the female energy in various forms. He does not paint it just as a female but adorned with all the powers of the Universe. He composed all the elements of the Universe in the figure of the Goddess. He used the color of the Dawn as goddess Usha; Earthen color as Prithvi; Red along yellow represents Aagneya [Fire Goddess] and light blue of water symbolize Varuni. Madan mostly use these colors in the body of the Goddess. In his painting the Goddess is limitless and innocent in expression. Her body parts show that she is the goddess of motherhood, consciousness and fertility. She is beautiful, youthful and elegant. In one side a female rides hamsa perhaps she is feminine form of Brahma associated with the mulaprakriti. The main Goddess sits on the back of the lion who is furious. In one of her hand is in abaya mudra and the other holds arrow. Her body is covered with the metaphors of religions. The most interesting is the relationship of the lion and the white bird. This is the keynote of the painting. Both the eyes meet and communicate the idea of peace. There are numerous figures in the scene which enhance the glory of the Goddess. Madan is well versed in scribing the secret emotions of divine power. All the facial features of the Goddess convey her inner beauty and power. She speaks through her silence that she is Universal mother.
